OPEN TOPICS

Essential social issues that’ll impact your world today and tomorrow.

—  Strategy

CREATIVE/BY/COLLECTIVE and journalist Andy Sobel engage in monthly dialogue with global thought leaders on key social issues that’ll impact your marketing campaigns today and tomorrow. Visit OPEN Topics here.

—  Concept

Engage global thought leaders in discussions on key topics to assist marketing/advertising professionals in creating strong campaigns today and tomorrow. Each interview is based on a thought-provoking question meant to challenge the reader and the thought-leader.

—  Design

We created a minimalist, content-driven visual language based on bold typography, Chloe Sobel’s concept-driven photography, and Andy Sobel’s impactful interviews. Each story also includes a Top 10 Tips box to help busy professionals quickly access actionable steps.

—  Solution

We not only raised brand awareness for C/BY/C, but we also used the platform to highlight important social issues and build long-term relationships. We were proud to have accomplished our goal of connecting people and encouraging growth through OPEN dialogue.

“Since it’s apparent that widely divergent views are hard — even impossible — to reconcile, let’s at least try to take the emotion out of our disagreements — this is my path forward.”

“We have to change the way we work, and that involves men and women. We need to understand that boards have to be diverse, that 9-5 is bullshit, that it’s wrong to think that mothers perform worse than their colleagues when research proves the opposite. There are tactical things that we can do to tackle the pay gap, but there is a bigger picture here.”

—  Alessandra Lariu
Co-Founder of SheSays & Experience Design Consultant

“Brands should be thinking about VR, 100%. Should they be doing it? That’s a good question. There still needs to be an idea and strategy around it, same as with radio, TV, digital, mobile. There has to be a reason why it exists and why it is purposeful for your brand.”

—   Resh Sidhu
Global Director at Snap Inc. & Adweek 100

“I have allowed myself to acknowledge how all of the work I’ve done in technology may have benefited the world up to a point, but the world is now at a point where we actually need to do something different if we want humanity to continue to progress. So I announced a new goal: 1 billion happy people.”

—   Mo Gawdat
‘Solve for Happy’ Author & formerly at Google

“There has never been a time when there is not someone who is actually going through radical transformation from believing in the future to wishing it were the past. We know that that is a curve that every single human seems to travel.”

—   Tea Uglow
Creative Director at Google Creative Lab APAC

“Human-centered design is very simple. It puts humans at the heart of what we do. So rather than thinking about how much money we’re going to make and how much we’re going to sell—although that is important, of course—we’re thinking about human needs first.”

Design Director at PwC Australia
